Admissions Process

Assumption College admits students who demonstrate an active intellect and personal qualities that will contribute to the campus community. We look for a solid academic record and involvement in activities, leadership roles, and commitment to service.

Before you apply

Required academic credentials
All applicants must graduate from an accredited secondary school with a minimum of 18 academic units including:

  • Four years of English
  • Three years of mathematics
  • Two years of a foreign language
  • Two years of history
  • Two years of science
  • Five additional academic units

Application review process
The Admissions Committee understands that grading standards vary from school to school, or from one course to another. Class rank provides some context in which to place the grades of students applying from a given school. Some schools also provide grade distribution charts. Finally, the Admissions Committee also considers whether the applicant's grade-point average or rank-in-class is weighted or unweighted.

The number of solid academic courses, including the number of honors or Advanced Placement-level courses, are considered during the application review process. Submission of standardized test scores (SAT-1 or ACT) is optional and applicants who choose not to submit SAT or ACT test scores will not be penalized in the review for admission.

Re-admission to Assumption
To be considered for fall admission, all required documents must be submitted no later than July 1. For spring semester admission, all required documents must be submitted no later than December 15.
