Dr. Lee Trepanier Appointed Dean of D’Amour College of Liberal Arts & Sciences

Assumption University and Provost Marc Guerra are pleased to announce that Dr. Lee Trepanier has been appointed the next Dean of the D’Amour College of Liberal Arts & Sciences.

As Provost Guerra noted in announcing this appointment, “Dr. Trepanier brings a remarkable breadth of learning, prudent judgment, proven administration skills, unmistakable affability, creative thinking, and palpable enthusiasm to this post . . . He is deeply committed to the animating principles and ends of Catholic liberal education.”

Dr. Trepanier joins Assumption from Samford University, where he served as Chair and Professor of Political Science since 2020. Previous career stops include posts at Saginaw Valley State University and Southern Utah University. Dr. Trepanier holds Bachelor’s Degrees in Political Science and English from Marquette University, and a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Political Science from Louisiana State University.

His scholarly work is wide ranging, including publications on the political philosopher Eric Voegelin as well as writings on politics and literature, religion and politics, democracy and education, and teaching and learning in higher education. Dr. Trepanier has edited or authored more than twenty books, most recently, Eric Voegelin’s Asian Political Thought and The College Lecture Today: An Interdisciplinary Defense for the Contemporary University.

Upon his appointment, Dr. Trepanier remarked that he is “honored to join the D’Amour College of Liberal Arts and Sciences . . .the College plays a fundamental role in providing students a high-quality Catholic liberal arts education.
