“Yes, I am a Jew”: Education and Antisemitism
The recent eruption of antisemitism on college campuses has drawn condemnations of leaders who responded slowly as well as demands for measures that ensure the safety of Jewish students. Those are important, but they do not speak to the root question these institutions must ask themselves: What are we teaching our students? In this lecture, Dr. Greg Weiner, President of Assumption University and the first Jewish president of a Catholic university in the United States, will discuss the Jewish tradition of learning, its close relation to Catholic liberal education, and why today American Jews must ask serious questions about the nature of the education our most elite institutions provide and whether that education truly serves Jewish students well. This event is free and open to the public.
