Assumption Advances Nine Spots in U.S. News & World Report 2022 Best Regional Colleges Ranking

Assumption University has been recognized for its academic excellence by U.S. News & World Report in its recently released 2022 Best Colleges rankings. Assumption was acknowledged as a top institution in the North region, moving up nine spots from the previous year. It was also named a Best Value School and a top performer on social mobility, the organization’s recognition for an institution’s ability and commitment to serve low-income students.

“Assumption University is proud to be recognized for our high-quality, Catholic liberal education that engages in enduring ideas and as one of the top institutions in the northeast,” said President Francesco C. Cesareo, Ph.D. “The  University’s  advancement in the rankings is a reflection of our growth as an institution over the last academic year—transitioning to  University status, organizing into five separate schools, and opening a state-of-the-art health sciences building in which we are educating the next generation of nurses who will compassionately treat the whole person. Though the pandemic challenged the conventional delivery of a college education last year, Assumption continued to provide our students, with an education that helps students discover their vocation and lead meaningful lives. We look forward to another year of academic growth as we continue to form students both intellectually and spiritually and prepare them to become leaders in society.”

In its commitment to affordability and increasing access to higher education, last summer Assumption created a Coronavirus Financial Aid Relief Fund that provides $3 million in assistance to students whose families are facing financial hardship as a result of the coronavirus pandemic. The University also recently joined a national campaign to double the dollar amount of Pell Grants in order to support those who dream of achieving a college education but depend on federal assistance to do so.

According to U.S. News & World Report, colleges and universities are “ranked according to their performance across a set of widely accepted indicators of excellence,” including outcomes, expert opinion (peer assessment), faculty resources, financial resources, student excellence, and alumni giving.

Earlier this month, Assumption was included in The Princeton Review’s Best 387 Colleges for 2022.
