Assumption University Named a Best College for Women in STEM and Mathematics
Assumption University has been named a Best College for Women in STEM, specifically in the subject of mathematics, by Washington Monthly. The Best Colleges for Women in STEM rankings were based on the percentage of recent female graduates by program, the percentage of the student body that is female at each institution, and median earnings five years after graduation.
“The faculty in the Mathematics and Computer Science Department are excited to get this recognition for the work we do to mentor students,” said Brooke Andersen, Chair of the Mathematics and Computer Science Department. “We are very proud of the success of our recent graduates, including young women who succeed in engineering, doctoral programs in mathematics, actuarial sciences, and teaching. Our department prioritizes creating a welcoming environment in our classrooms, and faculty work closely with students to meet them where they are, awaken their curiosity, and deepen their questions and understanding.”
Washington Monthly releases annual college rankings based on the impact institutions make on the country and the public good, according to their methodology.
