Assumption Welcomes Six New Faculty to Campus
At the start of the 2018-19 Academic Year, Assumption welcomed six new faculty members, each of whom brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the University.
“The foundation of liberal arts academic institutions such as Assumption is the quality of its faculty and their commitment to student success,” said Louise Carroll Keeley, provost and vice president for academic affairs. “Our students are fortunate to benefit from their years of experience and learning, and their desire to mentor the next generation of Assumption University students.”
Raymond Albert, Ph.D., joins the institution as the inaugural director of the University’s new cybersecurity program. Prof. Albert received his Ph.D. from the University of Florida with a concentration in instructional technology; his master’s degree in computer science from the University of Vermont; and his bachelor’s degree in mathematics and science from the University of Maine. Prof. Albert’s previous academic appointment was at the University of Maine, where he taught computer science. A past recipient of government grants, Prof. Albert has led extensive research projects that focused on exploring the best methods to educate the next generation of cybersecurity professionals; collaborated with academic, government, and business leaders to create a vision for cybersecurity for the State of Maine; and identified core cybersecurity vulnerabilities for critical maritime computer systems
Angelos Fotopoulos, Ph.D., joins the University as a visiting professor of natural sciences. Prof. Fotopoulos received both his Ph.D. and master’s degrees from Northeastern University. He received his bachelor’s degree in physics from the University of Patras in Greece. Prof. Fotopoulos previously served as a lecturer in physics at Northeastern University, a position he began in 2014. Prior to Northeastern, Prof. Fotopoulos was a lecturer and lab instructor at Mount Ida College.
Megan Hill ’14 joins Assumption as a professor of practice of marketing. Megan received her B.A. in English from Assumption and her M.S. in communication from Purdue University in 2018. Prof. Hill came to Assumption from Martin County (FL) Board of County Commissioners Parks and Recreation Department where she served as the marketing coordinator. Prior to working for the Martin County Parks and Recreation department, Hill worked for the United Technologies Corporation (UTC). At UTC, Hill managed social media accounts, wrote leadership speeches, managed internal communications, and built and maintained webpages.
Kevin Kelly, Ph.D., joins the institution as a professor of practice in the Business Studies Department. Prof. Kelly completed his Ph.D. at Northeastern University with a focus on Entrepreneurial Strategic Policy; his master’s degree in government policy from Harvard University; and his bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Prior to joining Assumption, Prof. Kelly was the vice president of sales and marketing at Power Management Company New England, LLC.
Caitlin Stover, Ph.D., RN, PHCNS-BC, CNE, joins Assumption as the dean of the University’s new nursing program. Dean Stover received her Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Massachusetts Worcester; her master’s degree from Worcester State University; and her bachelor’s degree from Boston College. She previously worked at the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth College of Nursing, where she was the Master’s Program director and a tenured faculty member. Dean Stover also served as a member of the clinical faculty at Northeastern University.
