Sport is more than a game, it’s now a multi-billion-dollar worldwide industry that has become a crucial element of our economy and culture. Behind the stadium and court lights a complex infrastructure, ranging from agents to journalists to trainers to event managers, work to support and manage that industry. Assumption’s sport management minor helps you to develop the skills to become a vital part of that team.
Worcester Red Sox Partnership
Assumption University is the higher education sponsor and one of the Worcester Red Sox’s 21 founding partners. Through this partnership, Assumption students benefit from internships and scholarships as the University enhances its commitment to the redevelopment and revitalization of Worcester.
Polar Park serves as a classroom for Assumption students where students are provided access to internships that complement the University’s academic programs in business studies, data analytics, human services and rehabilitation studies, the communications track in English, and many more. The partnership also expands students’ access to higher education in the form of scholarships from the Worcester Red Sox that will be matched by Assumption.
Sports management is open to all students interested in the area of the business of sport. While of direct appeal to business majors, it can also serve as a useful complement to students studying writing and mass communication who are also interested in the sports media field as well as economics students focusing on sports analytics.
