Dear New & Returning Assumption Students & Families,

With the FAFSA delays for the 2024-2025 academic year, Assumption understands many students and families are still struggling to file the 2024-2025 FAFSA. Please do not worry about the deadline stated below for the upcoming academic year. We want you to focus on getting your FAFSA filed and not about looming deadlines.

  • The 2024/2025 FAFSA should be available sometime in December (Assumption’s Federal School Code is 002118)
  • Priority FAFSA filing deadline – July 1, 2024 (To expedite delivery of your financial aid offer letter, please submit your FAFSA as soon as it opens in December 2023 making sure to include Assumption’s federal school code of 002118 on your application)
  • Deposit deadline for Early Decision students – January 15
  • Deposit deadline for accepted students – May 1

Admission Decision Notification:

  • Early Decision (binding) – 2 weeks from submission
  • Early Action I – 2 weeks from submission
  • Early Action II – 2 weeks from submission
  • Regular Decision – 2 weeks from submission

Financial Aid Offer Letter Notification:

Assumption will begin releasing financial aid offers on a rolling basis to prospective students beginning in April, 2024.

What You’ll Need

All applicants to Assumption need to provide the following:

  • A completed Common Application
  • A personal statement or essay (part of the Common Application)
    • An official high school transcript including senior grades (must be submitted directly from your high school)
    • A letter of recommendation from a counselor or teacher
    • Standardized test scores (optional). Should you want your test scores included in your application review, the school code for the SAT is 3009 and the ACT code is 1782. Test scores must be submitted directly from the testing center or your school counseling office.
    • Official educational records (if associated with a homeschool program). Students may submit a detailed list of secondary-level courses with supporting documentation attached. If students have completed any coursework at a traditional high school or college, we ask that you please submit that information in your application for admission.
    • Standardized test scores (optional). Should you want your test scores included in your application review, the school code for the SAT is 3009 and the ACT code is 1782. Test scores must be submitted directly from the testing center.
    • A letter of recommendation (from someone who is not a relative). Students should choose this candidate carefully, as these letters are taken into consideration as part of the overall application.

  • The Froelich School of Nursing is a direct admit program. Applications that meet the following minimum Froelich School of Nursing requirements will be read for admission. In addition to the University requirements, the minimum criteria required for the Froelich School of Nursing includes the following: 

    1. Minimum QPA in Core Math and Science Courses of 3.0. Core math courses include Algebra, Geometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus, and Statistics; and Core Science Courses include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy, and Physiology. 
    2. A high school transcript documenting the completion of three years of Core science courses (as defined above). 
    3. An application ready for review includes the following: 
      1. Completed Common Application.
      2. Completed Froelich School of Nursing specific essay question located in the Common Application. 
      3. Submission of a Letter of Recommendation from a high school counselor or teacher. 
      4. Submission of High School Transcript.

  • All applicants should graduate from an accredited secondary school with a minimum of 18 academic units including:

    • English: four years
    • Mathematics: three years
    • Foreign language: two years
    • History: two years
    • Science: two years (unless applying into the nursing program; three years of science is mandatory for nursing program applicants)
    • Five additional academic units
    • English: four years

  • Reactivation

    If you previously applied to Assumption as a first-year student or transfer, and did not enroll at the University or another college, and would now like to reactivate your application, please send a brief email to admiss@assumption.edu. Please include in your email the semester you are applying for. There is no application fee required.

    In addition to reactivating your application, if applicable, you will need to submit the following:

    • Official final high school transcript
    • A statement of activity, if there is a gap in your education

    Transfer Reactivate

    If you previously applied to Assumption as a first-year or transfer student, but decided to attend another college, and would now like to reactivate your application, please send a brief email to admiss@assumption.edu to reactivate your application. Please include in your email the semester you are applying for. There is no application fee required.

    In addition to reactivating your application, you will need to submit the following:

    • Official college transcripts from all colleges attended
    • Official final high school transcript
    • A statement of activity, if there is a gap in your education
    • A completed College Official’s Report

    Please note: You may reactivate your application only if you have applied within the past two years. If beyond two years, please complete a new Common Application.

    Readmit Student

    All students requesting readmission to the University, regardless of their cause for withdrawing, should email the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs, Eloise Knowlton, at eknowlton@assumption.edu, explaining the circumstances of their departure from the University, reasons for requesting to return to Assumption, and how the circumstances leading to their withdrawal have changed.

    • For spring semester readmissions, readmit requests must be received by December 21.
    • For fall semester readmissions, readmit requests must be received by July 1.

    Please note: Students who have been required to withdraw for academic or disciplinary reasons are ineligible for readmission for one full semester.

  • At least 14 credits of coursework are needed to transfer to Assumption. A final decision on the number of credits that will transfer will be made by the registrar’s office through a credit audit process.

    In order to graduate from Assumption, at least 20 of the 40 semester courses must be taken in the undergraduate day University or through the Colleges of Worcester Consortium as an Assumption University student.

Computer Science Articulation Agreement with Quinsigamond Community College

Assumption University and Quinsigamond Community College have a transfer articulation agreement for the Computer Science program. Students in QCC’s Computer Science Associate in Science Degree program will be able to seamlessly transfer into Assumption’s bachelor’s degree in computer science. View course equivalencies.

Cybersecurity Articulation Agreement with Quinsigamond Community College

What You’ll Need

All international applicants to Assumption need to provide the following:

  • A completed Common Application
  • English Proficiency Test: All students, regardless of citizenship, must demonstrate English language proficiency when applying to Assumption. If English is not your first language, you will need to submit official results from one of the following:
    • Recommend minimum scores:
      • TOEFL (code: 3009) – 80 (iBT), 550 (pBT)
      • IELTS – 6.5
      • Duolingo – 105
      • Pearson – 53
      • iTEP – 3.7
    • For prospective students applying for the 2021-22 academic year, Assumption will also consider results from the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition and the IELTS Indicator.

      Additionally, Assumption will consider interviews submitted through Initialview and Vericant as a supplemental form of English proficiency.

      English Proficiency Waiver Request

      Some students may qualify for an English Proficiency Waiver. If you believe you qualify for an English proficiency waiver, please submit the English Proficiency Waiver Request Form. Proficiency waiver requests must be received by the application deadline and must accompany a complete application. Assumption’s Admissions Committee may request additional documentation.
  • The Declaration of Finances & International Financial Aid Form
    • All international applicants must complete the Declaration of Finances at time of application as a required material to be considered for admission at Assumption University. You will be prompted to answer several questions regarding your finances and asked to submit supporting financial documents from your educational sponsor.
    • If you cannot obtain all necessary documents to complete this form by the deadline, please contact your admissions counselor to discuss further options.
    • The International Financial Aid Form portion of the form is optional and should only be completed by international students seeking additional support financially from Assumption. If you intend to apply for international financial aid, you must complete this form at the time of application submission. Please understand that this does not guarantee you will receive additional aid but is an additional option for our international applicants.
      • For students not intending to apply for need-based financial aid, you will only need to submit the Declaration of Finances form.
