Travel Tuesday: Ariana Orcera ’21
Meet Ariana Orcera ’21, a criminology major from Puerto Rico. Ariana is spending her spring semester in Spain to learn more about her Spanish heritage. “I chose Spain to study abroad because my dad’s part of the family is from Spain and I saw it as a great opportunity to learn more about my roots and knowing Spanish is just a plus.” Ariana says the best way to learn about yourself is through studying abroad. “The most eye-opening experience has been growing and being all by myself in a new country, having to immerse myself to meet new people and living in a totally new place.” Ariana is learning about the culture of the Spanish people, and how they are loud, funny, and loving people to be around. Ariana loves the time she has spent in Spain so much, that she encourages everyone who is thinking about studying abroad to just go for it. “I would tell anyone that is thinking about studying abroad that they should go for it. If someone had the opportunity to travel to another country and just be there, why not? There may not be another time in life when you can just study and travel around the world at the same time.”
